Practicing the conversation that can save a life
Training teachers to support students in crisis takes practice, but practicing with real people is neither safe nor scalable. We assembled an AI conversation simulator, three safety layers and competency tracking for the OASIS methodology.

The challenge
Practicing the hard part, without putting anyone at risk.
Fundación Summer trains teachers with its OASIS methodology to support students in crisis. But you can't learn a conversation like that by reading, and practicing with real students isn't safe. The methodology only reached as far as its facilitators could.
What we assembled
A simulator that reacts like a real person.
We assembled Martina, a fictional student who opens up when she's supported well and shuts down when she's pressured. Every teacher practices whenever they want and gets a report with no grade: it shows what they did well and what to try next time.
Built for them: The character, the scenarios and the OASIS criteria, with safety layers that stop the exercise if real distress shows up.
Results
What the pilot left behind.
Across 5 workshops in schools in La Reina and Providencia, teachers held more than 250 practice sessions with Martina: 119 were fully assessed, 97% of conversations moved her emotional matrix, and at the closing session 75 people practiced at the same time. The pilot was funded by the 2025 Comunidad Activa Fund of the Santiago Metropolitan Regional Government.
5 schools, 119 assessed sessions, and 97% of conversations moved Martina's emotional matrix.
“What we discussed may seem obvious, but amid the chaos of a school we can make the mistake of downplaying situations, taking away the importance or seriousness they should have.”
